💜 Shine a Light. Honor Lives. Offer Hope.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Through Purple Light Nights®, the Algona Police Department invites our community to remember those whose lives were taken by domestic violence, support survivors and families, and offer hope to those still experiencing abuse.
There are many ways to participate:
💜 Wear purple or a purple awareness ribbon.
💜 Display a purple light or ribbon at your home or business.
💜 Attend a local awareness walk or community event. We’ll share nearby opportunities throughout the month.
💜 Share resources that help people find support.
💜 Learn how to listen without judgment and support someone experiencing abuse.
Participate in whatever way feels safe and right for you. You do not have to share a personal experience to be part of this month’s message of support.
