Caring for our community goes beyond the walls of KRHC. ❤️

Each month, employees who participate in KRHC Cares pool their donations to support a local nonprofit or community program. This month, their generosity resulted in a donation of more than $450 to Cops for Kids through the Algona Police Department.

The Cops for Kids program helps make the holidays brighter through its annual shopping event, but its impact doesn't stop there. The program also helps throughout the year when local children have needs that arise.

We're incredibly proud that KRHC Cares is made possible entirely by our employees. It's one more way our team is caring for our neighbors, supporting local families and making a difference right here in Kossuth County.

Today we remember fallen Officer Kevin Cram, who lost his life on September 13, 2023 while serving with the Algona Police Department. Our thoughts are with Kevin’s loved ones, friends, and fellow officers as they continue to carry his memory in their hearts. Rest in peace, Officer Cram. You may no longer be with us, but you will never be forgotten.

🚨 DEPUTY SCAM CALL 🚨

We have received several reports of scam calls from someone pretending to be a Kossuth County Deputy, claiming they need to speak with the person regarding a “legal matter.”

⚠️ Please be cautious! Do not provide personal or financial information or send money. ⚠️

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and independently verify who is calling.

The Kossuth county sheriffs office would not call you to solicit payment over the phone regarding legal matters.

Two dogs found this morning in the area of Hwy 169/9 by Lakota area. If they belong to you a citizen picked them up and they are now at the Vets office in Webster City Iowa . Can call 515-832-1700 to claim the dogs. Must have proof that they belong to you to claim. Kossuth County Sheriff's Office

As local schools prepare for students to return, area drivers are reminded to educate themselves on school bus safety. The number of drivers passing a school bus unlawfully is increasing in Kossuth, which places students and all drivers in danger.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Kossuth County drivers committed 44 bus safety violations in the 2025-2026 school year, compared to 12 violations the previous year. Calhoun County had one violation, Humboldt County had five and Webster County had 11 in the 2025-2026 school year.
