Thanks to our friends at Sierra School of Alhambra for inviting us to their campus for coffee with a cop! We had a great time greeting students as they made their way in to class for a full day of learning and talking to staff.

🚨 : Officers were in the area of Linda Vista and Second St. when they received a Flock alert for a stolen vehicle out of the City of Industry. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and the driver stepped out. The driver said he had borrowed the car from a friend but didn’t know who it belonged to (a friend of a friend kind of situation).

During a search of the vehicle, Officers observed a punched-out ignition switch and drug paraphernalia on the passenger-side rear floorboard of the vehicle. When Officers contacted the registered owner, he confirmed no one had permission to take a joyride with his car.

Unfortunately for Ray Candelaria of Alhambra, CA, his unofficial rental agreement had reached its final destination: APD Jail.

🚨 : Officers responded to a call near Main St. and Hampden Terrace regarding a vehicle with its engine running, windshield wipers going, and hazard lights flashing. To make matters worse, the vehicle was in reverse, while the driver was found slumped over the center console, taking a nap next to a bright red NOS tank riding sh***un.

During the investigation, Officers observed several balloons scattered inside, a glass pipe with white residue, and a debit card that belonged to the suspect’s “uncle.” When the driver finally woke up, he looked like he’d been teleported in from another dimension and had no clue what was happening. The driver later admitted that he’d been inhaling from the tank, and the balloons were there for a reason (not a birthday celebration).

Unfortunately for Elian Varela of Los Angeles, CA, his night ran out of gas, and he was arrested and booked at APD Jail. His vehicle may have been in reverse, but there was no backing out of this one. 🫠

Strengthening relationships with our community members, businesses, and schools is important to us. Your APD is constantly working hard to serve the City in the best ways possible. If you see us around, please say hello!

🏡Thanks to the residents of the Alhambra Hills neighborhood who came together last night for a neighborhood watch meeting!

We appreciate everyone who took the time to connect with their neighbors, discuss community concerns, and learn how we can work together to keep our neighborhoods safe.

Neighborhood watch is a great reminder that community safety is a shared effort, and it starts with neighbors looking out for one another. 💙
