Throwing it back to this month’s Grand Opening of Metro @ Florence! We were proud to join LA County Second District Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, Meta Housing, Western Community Housing, and other valued partners to celebrate this incredible milestone for the Florence-Firestone neighborhood. This seven-story, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold-certified development features 160 affordable units for households previously experiencing homelessness and living with mental illness, along with amenities like a rooftop deck, laundry facilities, a beautiful courtyard, and more.

We provided $7 million in HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds and 72 Project-Based Vouchers to help make this community possible. Here’s to creating more homes and expanding affordable housing opportunities across LA County!

What a fiesta! Earlier this month, our staff came together to honor the rich diversity, vibrant cultures, and beautiful heritage of the Hispanic community at our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. From delicious food and amazing local merchandise vendors to an exciting raffle and a special screening of Selena, our celebration was filled with great food, fun, laughter, and community spirit.

A huge thank you to our Employee Events Committee for planning such a great event and creating an opportunity for us to come together, celebrate, and appreciate the beauty of our diverse cultures. Your hard work made this celebration extra special!

Attention Altadena residents rebuilding homes or living in homes: Get your property ready for the rainy season! Following the Palisades and Eaton Fires, thousands of acres of hillside and canyon areas burned, leaving slopes with less vegetation to hold soil in place. As we head into the rainy season, vacant and undeveloped lots throughout the community need extra attention. Please share these important property maintenance requirements, erosion-control tips, and resources from the Los Angeles County Public Works.

Before we kicked off this year’s Open Enrollment, our Human Resources (HR) team brought staff together for our annual Health & Wellness Fair last week! It was a great opportunity to learn more about our benefit options, meet with benefit providers and vendors, get questions answered on the spot, and enjoy some delicious food while connecting with colleagues. A lot of time and planning goes into making an event like this happen, and we want to give a big shout-out to our HR team for bringing together so many valuable resources. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the Health & Wellness Fair a success!
