🚨 FROM THE CHIEF’S DESK 🚨

The Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department would like to ask everyone to keep one of our own, Captain David Jackson, and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Yesterday, Captain Jackson suffered a mild heart attack, and our department had the opportunity to respond to one of our own. While we are thankful for the opportunity to be there for him, we ask that you join us in praying for his healing, strength, and a speedy recovery.

Captain Jackson is more than a member of our department—he is family. We stand together during the difficult times just as we do when serving our community.

Please keep Captain Jackson and his family lifted in prayer as he recovers. 🙏❤️🚒

🔥🚒 PUBLIC NOTICE: CITY OF ALICEVILLE BURN PERMIT REQUIREMENTS 🚒🔥

From the Desk of Fire Chief Derrick D. Jones
Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department

Good afternoon, citizens of Aliceville!

The Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind all residents and businesses that a burn permit is required before conducting any open burning within the City of Aliceville.

📍 WHERE TO OBTAIN YOUR BURN PERMIT:
🏛️ Aliceville City Hall

🔥 RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR OPEN BURNING:

✅ Burning Hours: Burning cannot begin before 8:00 AM. Fuel may only be added between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM for residential burning.

✅ Adult Supervision: All fires must be constantly attended until completely extinguished.

✅ Safe Distance: Open burning must be at least 50 feet away from structures unless an approved exception applies.

✅ Prohibited Materials: Burning tires, toxic materials, or using accelerants to start or maintain fires is strictly prohibited.

✅ Weather Conditions: Burning is prohibited when weather conditions make fires hazardous or when burn restrictions are in effect.

✅ Fire Prevention: Individuals must take the necessary precautions to prevent fires from spreading to surrounding properties.

⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDER!

Obtaining a burn permit does not give anyone permission to burn irresponsibly. All permit holders must follow the established rules and regulations.

Failure to comply may result in fines under City of Aliceville Ordinance Section 26-1.

🚨 PLEASE REMEMBER:
If you plan to burn, obtain your permit FIRST! Unauthorized burning can put lives, homes, property, and our firefighters at risk.

Our goal is not to prevent citizens from burning but to ensure that all burning is conducted safely and responsibly.

🔥 HEAT ADVISORY – CITY OF ALICEVILLE 🔥

A Heat Advisory will be in effect beginning Wednesday, September 2, at 11:00 AM through Saturday at 8:00 PM CDT. Heat index values could reach up to 107°F, creating an increased risk for heat-related illnesses.

Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned areas when possible, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. If you must work outdoors, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.

⚠️ Please remember:

* Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and others who may be vulnerable to extreme heat.
* Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
* Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
* Heat stroke is a medical emergency — CALL 911 immediately.

Please take this advisory seriously and look out for one another throughout this period of extreme heat.

STAY COOL. STAY SAFE. STAY ALERT.

🔥🚒 NATIONAL FIREFIGHTER DAY — FIREFIGHTER APPRECIATION 🚒🔥

Today, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank the dedicated men and women who answer the call to serve, especially the members of the Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department.

Being a firefighter is more than putting out fires. It means leaving your family to help someone else’s, responding at all hours of the day and night, training when no one is watching, and being willing to step into danger when others are trying to get away.

To my firefighters: THANK YOU. Thank you for your courage, sacrifice, dedication, and commitment to our community. I am proud to stand beside each of you and even prouder to serve as your Chief.

And to firefighters everywhere, career, volunteer, and reserve, we recognize you, we appreciate you, and we thank you for answering the call. 🚒🔥❤️

Happy National Firefighter Day!

🚨🔥 NO BURN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE — CITY OF ALICEVILLE 🔥🚨

Due to extreme heat and dangerously dry conditions, all outdoor burning within the City of Aliceville is prohibited until further notice.

🚫 No open burning
🚫 No barrel burning
🚫 No burning of brush or debris
🚫 Burn permits WILL NOT be issued until further notice

These conditions significantly increase the risk of fires spreading quickly and becoming difficult to control. We ask everyone to please take this notice seriously and help us protect our homes, property, first responders, and community.

We will notify the public when conditions improve and burning is permitted again.

Your Safety. Our Community. Our Priority.

Thank you for helping keep Aliceville safe.
