The best gift we can give our children is the opportunity to fail, learn, and grow. Parents, stop being their safety net and start being their springboard!

Confusing school voucher rules block Texans from up to $30K 03/12/2026

There are so many things about this article that are infuriating. I hate it for the parent, whose promise from the State will go unfulfilled. I hate it for our public schools, which are unfairly required to perform these evaluations for students that they do not serve --- not a new problem, mind you, but that could be it's own article. This entire situation stinks.

I guess at least the 75% of students who will receive the vouchers, who were already attending private schools, will get theirs.

Confusing school voucher rules block Texans from up to $30K Confusion over the program’s special education requirements is making it difficult for families to meet a looming deadline — and creating more work for Texas school districts.

The Texas Legislature sold vouchers as a lifeline for poor and disabled students. So who's actually applying?

New data from the TX Comptroller tells a very different story:

• Only 0.7% of public school families have applied — that's roughly 36,000 out of 5.5 MILLION students

• 76% of applicants are NOT even in public schools, they are already in private school or homeschooling

• Just 24% of applications come from public school families

This is not a rescue mission for underserved kids. It is a $1 BILLION taxpayer-funded subsidy for families who already left the public system.

Texas families are notfleeing public schools. They're choosing them overwhelmingly.

Today, we celebrate the extraordinary life of an extraordinary woman. Dr. Mary Thomas was beloved by those that knew her. Her life of service is unmatched. I will miss my friend, but that pales in comparison to the sense of loss felt in her community. Bless her family, friends, and those that she served so selflessly. We love you, Mary.

The filing deadline has officially closed, and I am humbled to share that I will be serving another term on the Allen ISD Board of Trustees.

Being unopposed is a responsibility I do not take lightly. To me, it signifies a shared vision for our schools and a vote of confidence in the direction we are headed. I want to thank every parent, teacher, and neighbor who reached out over the last few weeks to offer their support.

While the 'campaign' part may be over, the work is just beginning. We have big goals ahead for our students, and I am more energized than ever to keep our district moving forward. Thank you for your trust!
