Laker Vets Laker Vets at GVSU is a Student Organization affiliated with Student Veterans of America

While the Laker Vets is dedicated to assisting Student Veterans transition into civilian life as a student, membership to Laker Vets is not necessarily limited to Student Veterans. We welcome everyone that wishes to help, support, and advocate for Student Veterans. The GVSU Laker Vets also contributes its time to volunteering in the local community. Meetings are held once a month and generally last 45 - 60 minutes on average. Meeting times and dates are published at the beginning of each semester and

Coming back to GVSU for Homecoming? Come see what’s new at the MVRC!

GVSU Alumni and the Peter Secchia Military & Veterans Resource Center invite military and veteran alumni, supporters, and families to stop by during Homecoming and explore our newly renovated space.

Reconnect with fellow Lakers, meet the MVRC staff, and learn more about how we’re supporting today’s military-connected students.

This is an open house, so stop by anytime! Light refreshments will be available.

VR&E students: Your monthly subsistence allowance is increasing!

Beginning October 1, 2026, Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E) subsistence allowance rates will increase by 3% as part of the VA’s annual cost-of-living adjustment.

No action is needed. Your rate will adjust automatically, with eligible students seeing the increase beginning with their November 1 payment. Individual payment amounts will continue to vary based on enrollment, number of dependents, and other eligibility factors.
