As dirt bike complaints increase, Lehigh Valley lawmakers want to strengthen penalties for illegal riding 05/29/2026

I’m proud to introduce legislation to crack down on reckless ATV and dirt bike activity, including incidents where riders flee law enforcement, because our residents deserve to feel safe on our roads.

The Morning Call recently highlighted the importance of this bill and why action is needed. Our police chiefs see the impact firsthand. As the weather warms, complaints surge and dangerous behavior increases.

Officers are dealing with fast moving situations that are difficult to address, and this legislation gives them the tools they need.

As dirt bike complaints increase, Lehigh Valley lawmakers want to strengthen penalties for illegal riding In total, the 18 largest municipalities in Lehigh County have reported 1,830 motorbike-related complaints from 2023 to 2025, according to data compiled by state Sen. Nick Miller’s office.

Yesterday, the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) visited the Allentown School District to see firsthand how more than $1.3 million in state School Safety and Security Grant funding is being used to strengthen student mental health services and security in Allentown.

As a member of PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee, I fought to secure $100 million for School Safety and Mental Health Grants and more than $62 million for violence prevention initiatives in this year’s budget, because investing in our students’ safety, well-being, and future must remain a top priority.

Programs like the Canary Success Center are already making a real impact by improving grades and attendance and helping students succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

This includes:

➡️59% of students improved in at least two courses
➡️94% experienced fewer behavior infractions after joining the Success Center
➡️32% of students improved their average daily attendance

Every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed, and I will continue fighting for the resources and investments that help our students and their communities thrive.

Every year, more than 89,000 Pennsylvanians are diagnosed with cancer, including nearly 4,000 young adults whose treatments may put their future fertility at risk.

That’s why I’m introducing legislation to require insurance coverage for fertility preservation services for cancer patients before treatment begins.

No one should have to choose between lifesaving care and the chance to build a family in the future. Thank you to The Chick Mission for your advocacy and work on this issue.
