Greenawalds Fire/Rescue 11

On this Memorial Day and every day, Greenawalds Fire/Rescue 11 remembers those who have sacrificed their lives in service to our nation. As has become our tradition, members of the department alongside family and friends from the community, complete an intense workout named in honor of US Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor Recipient Lt. Michael Murphy (KIA 6/28/2005 Kunar, Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings).

At 1133hrs, South Whitehall and mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 4700blk of Huckleberry Road for a house fire with reported entrapment. Engine 11 arrived first due with a crew of 5, which split to stretch an attack line and conduct searches. All residents were able to successfully evacuate prior to FD arrival. Engine 26 arrived and completed the water supply to Engine 11, while obtaining water from tankers due to no available hydrants in the area. The remainder of the box assisted with fire suppression and overhaul.

Greenawalds has responded to 3 other working fires in the last 24 hours in Washington Township, Lower Macungie Township and Lowhill Township.
