Congratulations to Coach Barry Search on an incredible softball coaching career and well-deserved retirement from Parkland softball.

Over 36 seasons, Coach Search built a legacy of excellence, leading his teams to 289 victories, seven league championships, five district championships and a state title. His impact on countless student-athletes and the Lehigh Valley softball community will be felt for generations. In addition, he coached football for 47 years and track for five years, across a total of 51 years.

While the softball team knows Barry as coach, we at the Woodlawn Fire Department are proud to know him as our chief. His dedication, leadership and commitment to serving others have made a lasting difference, both on the field and in the fire service.

Thank you, Chief Search, for everything you have done for your players, your community, and what you continue to do for the members of Woodlawn Fire Department.

Last Monday members from both Woodlawn and Cetronia FD completed live fire training at the Whitehall FD Training Grounds. Members got to refine their hose management skills as well as their search and rescue techniques. Our probationary members also got to experience their first live fire training, receiving a lesson in fire dynamics from our department officers.

Thank you to Todd from Lehigh Valley Fire Scene Photos for spending the night with us and doing what he does best, getting some awesome pictures of our crews putting in some work.

Want to get involved and learn more about how you can help out your community? Stop by any Monday night from 7pm to 9pm during training or visit our website at https://woodlawn32.org/apply πŸ§―πŸ§‘β€πŸš’πŸš’

On Thursday, May 21st, members of the Woodlawn Fire Department were honored to attend the opening ceremonies of the Flags for Unity event held at Parkland High School alongside personnel from Cetronia Volunteer Fire Department, Greenawalds Fire/Rescue 11, and Tri-Clover Volunteer Fire Co.

Hosted by the Allentown West Rotary Club, this meaningful Memorial Day tribute honors military veterans, first responders, and hometown heroes through the display of hundreds of American flags. The event serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifice, service, and unity that strengthen our communities and our country.

Woodlawn Fire Department is proud to have been part of such a special event and to stand in support of those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Allentown West for organizing this incredible tribute. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸš’

Video from units responding to a inside gas odor earlier today in district 3 (Cetronia). Once on scene crews located the source of the gas leak to be from one of the commercial dryers in the basement. UGI arrived and took over the scene.

Last night for training members completed our yearly air-consumption drill. The air-consumption drill is designed to help members identify their individual limitations while breathing from their self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) in a controlled and safe training environment while completing simple yet rather important tasks that mimic essential fire ground skills.

Does this kind of experience look interesting to you? Stop by any Monday night at 7pm or apply online at https://woodlawn32.org/apply to volunteer!

Ever wonder why you see emergency responders walking (maybe briskly) but almost never running at a scene? Because it is a deliberate behavior to maintain control and leadership in a crisis.
