🤦🏽‍♂️ On today’s episode of “Please Don’t Flush That”: This is a photo of material pulled from our equipment used in the wastewater treatment process. It includes wipes, cloth and other items that should never go down the toilet.

Wipes, rags, paper towels and hygiene products can collect, twist together, clog equipment and create expensive problems for the crews keeping wastewater moving.

This Fishing Season, Help Keep Our Shared Waterways Clean | Lehigh County Authority Fishing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, but fishing line and other trash endangers wildlife and pollutes our shared waterways.

🚫 This is why wipes don’t belong in the toilet. 🚫

What you’re looking at is a massive bundle of wipes removed from equipment at our wastewater treatment plant.

Despite being labeled “flushable,” wipes do not break down like toilet paper. Instead, they tangle together with grease, debris, and other materials in the sewer system. Over time, they can clog pipes, damage pumps, cause sewer backups, and create costly maintenance problems.

This single mass had to be physically removed from our equipment before it could cause even bigger issues.

The only things that should be flushed are:
✅ Human waste
✅ Toilet paper

A simple choice at home can help protect our sewer system, prevent backups, and save money on repairs.

When it comes to wipes, don’t flush them. Trash them.
