Ideally, we would like all candidates to participate; but a new LWVPA state policy allows us to proceed as long as opposing candidates have been invited more than once (but still have not answered). Here are some of the things House Democrats are fighting for that Senate Republican leaders have stopped: minimum wage increase, good health care, good mental health care, protections against data centers, a safe & clean environment, protections against AI, protection from discrimination, investments in our community schools, control over utility costs... all these, and more, would benefit working families across Pennsylvania. We could achieve better jobs, better schools and better communities. Instead, Senate Republican leaders are trying to stop our work.

U.S. Congressman Ryan Mackenzie has made anti-fraud reform and oversight a central focus of his legislative and committee work in Congress. 🤔How’s that been going?
“Although Vice President J.D. Vance and other members of the administration have vowed to remove more than 760,000 enrollees from the Affordable Care Act, citing widespread fraud, the fugitives with whom Paxton was hanging out [Jan. 1, 2024] were wanted on federal healthcare fraud charges. They allegedly embezzled $15 million from a Chicago hospital, and one of them was charged with receiving at least $195 million from the U.S. government for fraudulent Covid-19 tests.
One of the men donated $190,000 to Paxton, $25,000 of it after he was indicted.
Ron Filipkowski of MeidasNews posted: “JD Vance running around the country saying he’s fighting health care fraud while his nominee for the senate in TX who he completely supports is partying in Dubai with a guy [who] stole over $300 million in health care fraud and gave Paxton $190,000. This is the Republican Party.”
Meanwhile, although the administration has boasted that it is cracking down on fraud in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program by cutting benefits, ProPublica reported today that the real fraud comes from criminal syndicates, often from Romania, who last year walked away with $470 million stolen electronically from more than 990,000 households. The theft could be stopped with digital microchips, but Congress has refused to add them to the benefit cards. Now the Trump administration has stripped funds allocated to address the theft.”

County posted this message on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Notification for availability of additional drop boxes is still pending.

Mail-in ballots will start arriving today. Make sure you fill it out, use the security envelope and sign the outside envelope. Ballots can be returned by mail or by using on of the county dropboxes.
