Imagine being able to see ghosts! Ichigo Kurosaki does have this particular power. And with this power he is able to detect a being, who turns out to be a Soul Reaper, enter his bedroom who is in pursuit of a monster. During the ensuing battle, the Soul Reaper transfers her power to Ichigo so he can fight in her place. Here begins his adventure into the world of spirits. The first book in the Time Quintet, A Wrinkle in Time was published in 1962 and written by Madeleine L’Engle. It follows two siblings, Meg and Charles Wallace Murry, and their friend, Calvin O’Keefe, on their quest to find Meg and Charles’s father, Alexander. Alexander is a scientist who has mysteriously disappeared and the three have to travel through space and time to find him with the help of three supernatural beings. Not only do Meg, Charles Wallce, and Calvin have to find Mr. Murry, they also have to save the world from the forces of evil. A Wrinkle in Time is today’s selection.

One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D Luffy and his band of pirates, the Straw Hat Pirates. Sailing the seas of the Grand Line, he yearns to find the ultimate treasure, the One Piece, that will make him King of the Pirates. Written and Illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is considered the best-selling manga of all time and is today’s selection.

When a couple of bored teens randomly crank call a lonely elderly man, neither of them will foresee the effect it has on each of them. Lorraine and John eventually establish a friendship with Mr. Pignati (aka the Pigman). This fills a void for all three of them. When Mr. Pignati has to go into the hospital, Lorraine and John offer to look after his house in his absence. When they decide to have a small party, high school shenanigans ensue and their relationship with Mr. Pignati is irrevocably damaged. Published in 1968 and written by Paul Zindel, The Pigman is this week’s selection.
