City of Allentown EMS

The Lehigh County Special Operations medical component along with ER residents from Lehigh Valley Health Network / Jefferson Health participated in the annual wilderness medicine day at Blue Mountain Resort today. Component team members consist of Paramedics from the City of Allentown and Physicians, Nurses and Paramedics from LVHN. Our members set up scenarios to treat and provide extended care in the austere environment.

As we close out National EMS week we would be remised if we didn’t acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our part time and per-diem staff, and our hardworking administrative team.

As we celebrate this week, we also celebrate the 50th year of Allentown EMS.

What started as Cardiac Care Technicians with Police Officers for drivers has evolved into the first rate EMS organization we are today.

We are grateful for the support of our Mayor, City Administration, and City Council, for the daily support of the Allentown Fire Department and Allentown Police Department, and for the folks in the garage and technical services who keep us on the road.

Allentown EMS is not one person or one idea. Our success is because of every member of our staff and every level of city administration who work together to ensure the residents of our city have someone to come when they call for help. That is the reason we were created 50 years ago, and patient care is why we still do it.

Bring on the 3rd platoon! Would National EMS week be complete without meeting the rest of our night shift?

It was a great opportunity for our outreach team to meet and teach hands only CPR to many visiting students for the annual Education Day at the Ballpark yesterday.

Ferrous and FeFe even learned CPR from our Paramedics Stephanie and Lindsay.
