Tragically, more beautiful mature trees, many oaks and other protected trees, are at risk of being destroyed for the 2 weeks worth of events at Santa Anita Park during the Olympics. Once gone, they can never be replaced. This cannot be allowed. They are too important to the health and well-being of the community -- 2-legged, 4-legged, 6-legged and winged. Please speak up to protest this disgraceful decision before it is too late to save the trees. You can make a difference. Please share widely.

Incredible event last night to help raise funds to save the trees on the PUSD campuses. Huge thanks to Julia Butterfly Hill for her wisdom and inspiration and to the students who organized the event and shared their music and poetry and to the badass women of the Friends of the PUSD trees who have given so much time and energy to this effort. You can still donate money to support them at:

Go Sabine, Paloma and F***y! Once these trees are lost, the damage is irreversible.

We’ve been busy out in the world meeting people and talking about trees! Two weekends ago superstar Stephanie did two Earth Day events back to back. Big thanks to hosts and Solvang Garden in Altadena, with . Pictured are Stephanie, Lu, Sabine and Maggie and all of the info we want to share with you. Check out our website for our lists of All-Star trees to plant in Altadena to help restore our urban forest. See you at the next event!

Excellent reporting by LAIST as usual.

As California debates Zone Zero, researchers want to know.

For more than a year, a group of researchers has collected data on more than 2,000 trees — about 600 in the Palisades and 1,500 in Altadena — to analyze how they may recover after the fires and their role in the fires’ spread.
