📢SPOOKYTOWN NEEDS HELP📢
The Altus Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #120 is asking our amazing community for help! We are currently in desperate need of candy donations for our upcoming Spookytown event.
Spookytown was created to give the children of our community a safe, fun place to trick-or-treat, and every year we work hard to make it a memorable experience for local families. But we cannot do it without the support of our community. This event relies heavily on donations from local businesses, organizations, families, and individuals who believe in giving our kids a safe place to celebrate Halloween.

🍬 We need candy donations! 🍬
If you are able to donate bags of individually wrapped candy, we would greatly appreciate your support. Every bag makes a difference and helps put smiles on the faces of the children who attend.

Together, we can make sure no child leaves Spookytown without a bag full of treats! 🎃🍭

If you would like to donate, please reach out to the Altus PD or message us directly.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Spookytown in the past and to those who continue to support the children and families of our community. We truly could not do this without you!

We need your help! We are very low on candy this year. Please donate candy to make this Halloween a magical one for the children in our community!

Today, Chief Tim Murphy, Fire Chief Neal Bonds, and EMS Chief Ray Jennings had the privilege of presenting the Life Saving Award to a great group of first responders. This award was in recognition of the extraordinary actions they took on August 5, 2026.

On August 5, 2026, Janet Espinoza was critically injured after being stabbed multiple times during a violent domestic assault in the parking lot of the city complex. These dedicated professionals responded without hesitation. While officers secured the scene, Detective Lieutenant Johnathan Almanza, Lieutenant Jeremy Diaz, Officer Hunter Elliot, and Master Officer Quinten Chedester immediately began rendering lifesaving aid, applying tourniquets, chest seals and pressures dressings until Altus Fire and EMS personnel arrived to provide advanced medical care.

Altus Police Dispatchers, Kayden Lehew, and Marissa Ammerman witnessed the assault and quickly relayed critical information to dispatcher Medina Franco. Medina quickly coordinated Police, Fire, and EMS responses, helping ensure both a rapid emergency response and the swift apprehension of the suspect.

The advanced medical care provided by Brendon Tyner, Kaden Hans, Joshua Conger, Laylah Buss, Bradley Cox, William Elder, Austin Kendrix, and George Lankford was nothing short of exceptional.

Because of the teamwork, courage, professionalism, and selfless dedication of these first responders, Janet Espinoza is alive today.

Please join me in congratulating these deserving recipients of the Life Saving Award:

🎃SPOOKYTOWN👻
The Altus FOP Lodge #120 is switching gears and preparing for our annual "Spookytown" event!

So far, we have 3 candy drop-off locations in town. If you would like to donate candy, you can drop off bagged candy at Force Nutrition, Just Brew It, and the Altus Police Department!

We rely heavily on donations to be able to provide a safe event for our local children. "Spookytown" is a safe place where kiddos can come to receive Halloween candy 🍬 and also get some "spooks"!

This year, "Spookytown" will be held on Halloween ~ Saturday, October 31st. We will be located at Safetytown, behind the Imagination Station Park. Gates will open at 6pm and close at 8pm.

We are so thankful for all of our community's support! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

The Altus Police Department encourages residents to use caution when searching for homes on Facebook Marketplace, rental websites, and other online platforms.
Scammers may copy photos and details from legitimate listings, then pose as the owner or property manager. They may send fake contracts or lease agreements to make the transaction look legitimate and request application fees, deposits, or rent. After receiving your money, they may disappear.
A professional-looking contract does not prove that someone owns a property or has permission to rent or sell it.
Before sending money always:
• Meet the owner or authorized agent in person and tour the property.
• Independently verify their identity and authority to rent or sell it. Meeting someone or being shown a property is only part of that process.
• Search the property’s address online. Conflicting prices, names, or contact information can be warning signs.
• Be cautious of anyone who claims to be out of town, refuses to meet, or pressures you to pay immediately.
• Do not pay through gift cards or cryptocurrency. Be cautious of requests for wire transfers or payment apps from someone you have not verified.
If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Take time to verify before handing over your money.
If you believe you have been scammed, save the listing, messages, contracts, and payment records. Contact your bank or payment service immediately and report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.
