Western Oklahoma State College has reported a 25.5% increase in concurrent credit hours for Fall 2026 compared to Fall 2025, reflecting continued growth in opportunities for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit while completing their high school education.

Total concurrent enrollment increased by 58 students, representing a 15.6% increase over the previous fall. The growth reflects increased participation among area high school students and continued partnerships between Western, local school districts and families.

“We are extremely grateful for the families and school districts who have trusted us with their students and do not take that trust lightly,” said Western Oklahoma State College President Chad Wiginton. “Our faculty and staff work very hard to ensure juniors and seniors have a great experience as they begin to navigate college while still in high school.”

Western Oklahoma State College has been awarded a $1,593,701 Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant to support Pathways to Workforce Success, a five-year initiative focused on expanding career development and workforce placement services for students.

The grant will fund the hiring of a Career Development Specialist and the development of a dedicated space on campus where students can receive career advisement, employment assistance, and workforce placement support.

“This grant represents an important investment in our students and the future workforce of Southwest Oklahoma,” said Western President Dr. Chad Wiginton. “We want to help students understand how their education connects to a career and provide the resources and support they need to successfully enter the workforce.”
