The Altus Chamber of Commerce was first established as the Altus Civic and Commercial Club in 1908 and was officially incorporated as the Altus Chamber of Commerce in 1941. We exist to facilitate members' growth, promote the creation of new business in the Altus area, host events to the benefit of the Altus economy, foster community spirit, and provide informational resources to the community. We believe in creating an inclusive, friendly and personal culture, encouraging community leadership, promoting integrity and ethical practices, and operating in the best interest of our members.

Today we're shining the light on one of our members who literally keeps the lights on for their community... Harmon Electric Association, Inc.!

This member-owned cooperative has been operating since 1939. Using power purchased from Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), they provide electricity to over 3,000 meters throughout portions of Harmon, Greer, Jackson, Kiowa & Beckham counties in Oklahoma and Hardeman & Childress counties in Texas.

Beyond providing electricity, Harmon Electric is passionate about investing in the next generation through various youth initiatives, educational opportunities, and scholarships that help support local students and their futures.

We are thankful for their continued support of our community and through the Altus Chamber of Commerce. ❤️

🎉 It’s T-Shirt Tuesday at the Altus Chamber of Commerce!

We have to admit today’s shirt is one of our very favorites…a gift from retired Lieutenant General William Welser III.

This shirt represents so much to the Chamber, and to our community. First and foremost, it represents the celebration of 70 years of the KC-135. Wow! 70 years of refueling freedom for the United States!

It also represents years of relationships and friendships fostered between the community of Altus and Altus Air Force Base, as well as our relationship with the US Air Force as a whole.

We love celebrating milestones with our members and with our local military installation. Days like today are so special to us!

✨Behind the Board: Mckenna Block✨

For Mckenna Block, serving on the Altus Chamber Board has been an opportunity to invest more deeply in the community she calls home while supporting the local businesses that help make it such a special place.

McKenna has been with Shamrock Bank, N.A. in Altus for the past eight years, where she currently serves as an Assistant Vice President. She chose to serve on the Chamber Board because she wanted to increase her involvement in the community, grow in leadership and build meaningful relationships with local business owners and professionals.

Through her time on the Board, McKenna says she has gained a better understanding of the work the Chamber does and the challenges and opportunities facing our community. One of the things she loves most about Altus is the way people show up for one another. From sporting events and seasonal traditions to celebrations and local events, she believes our community wouldn't be the same without the dedication and support of the people who call Altus home.

Outside of work and Chamber commitments, McKenna's favorite place to be is with her family. She and her husband, Braden, will celebrate six years of marriage on October 17, and together they have two children—a little girl who loves horses and a younger son who already shares his daddy's love for tractors. When she's not working, McKenna enjoys simply spending time with her little family and making memories together.

We are grateful to have McKenna Block serving on our Board of Directors and appreciate the time, perspective and heart she brings to serving our local business community! 💙
