🌿 Another Sign/Facade Grant Success in the Amana Colonies! 🏡✨

Iowa County Community Development is excited to recognize Four Winds Farm Apothecary as another recipient of our Sign/Facade Grant Program!

📸 Check out the before, during and after pictures. It’s exciting to see the investment come to life!

👏 A big thank-you to the owner for investing in their property and helping enhance the character and appeal of the Amana Colonies. Projects like these take time, effort, and a financial commitment — and that investment makes a difference!

🏘️ Why do these investments matter? Every improvement helps strengthen our business districts, preserve the unique character of our communities, and create welcoming places for residents and visitors alike. When local business owners invest in their properties, they’re investing in the future of the Amana Colonies and all of Iowa County.

Hopefully, you’ve already stopped by The Chocolate Haus for one of their famous caramel apples, especially this time of year!

But lets be honest, the caramel apples are just the beginning! 🍎🍫 While the caramel apples are pretty darn delicious, this is also one of the most amazing places to get anything chocolate. 🍫❤️

And honestly, who doesn’t love a shop where you can watch the treats being created right in front of your eyes?! From handmade chocolates to caramel goodies and all those irresistible creations in between, there’s always something sweet happening at The Chocolate Haus.

So yes, come for the caramel apple.
Stay for the chocolate.
And definitely watch them make it! 👀🍫

🍎 Who makes the best caramel apples in Iowa?

We asked Iowa Road Trip followers, and the recommendations came pouring in. From longtime candy shops to family orchards, these are the caramel apples people say are worth the drive.

Lillie Mae Chocolates received the most mentions, but 14 other Iowa favorites made the list. Did yours?

🌧️ Rainy day in the Amana Colonies? We’ve got you covered! ☔️

Sure, we’re hoping Mother Nature gets the rain out of her system sooner rather than later, but don’t let a little rain keep you away! After all, that’s what umbrellas and galoshes are for. 👢

And when the weather outside is a little soggy, there’s plenty to do inside the Amana Colonies:

🎶 Listen to live music
🍺 Have a brew (or two)
🏛️ Visit our museums
🛍️ Shop until you drop… onto a comfy bed at one of our local hotels or B&Bs
🍽️ Enjoy a delicious meal
🍷 Sample some w**e
🥩 Drool over the coolers while picking out snacks at the meat shop
🎬 Catch a movie
👜 Take in the amazing smell of leather goods
🧘‍♀️ Do some stretching
🎨 Hit up a craft or vendor show
…and so much more!

So grab your umbrella, throw on those galoshes, and come make a day of it. The Amana Colonies are still here, rain or shine!🌧️☀️
