This Monday’s report reflects an increase in the overall jail population, with today’s total exceeding the current seven-day average.
The Potter County Sheriff’s Office currently has 617 inmates in custody, compared to a seven-day average of 606 inmates. Of those currently in custody, 558 inmates are housed at the Potter County Detention Center, while 59 inmates are being housed in other facilities.
Additionally, 75 inmates are currently classified as “11D – Bond Denied” under Article I, Section 11d of the Texas Constitution. This provision applies to specific offenses and establishes a judicial process for determining when bail must be denied under the applicable constitutional standards.
The continued monitoring of jail population trends is important to understanding the demands placed on detention operations, available bed space, inmate classification requirements, staffing, and the use of outside housing facilities.
Daily populations fluctuate due to bookings, releases, transfers, court proceedings, and sentencing. These updates are intended to provide the citizens of Potter County with a transparent look at current jail operations and the ongoing challenges associated with detention capacity.
