Weโve received reports of scam phone calls and text messages that are targeting EBT cardholders across Virginia. โ ๏ธ
They may claim:
- There is suspicious activity on your account.
- An EBT card transaction was declined.
- You need to click a link or call a number to speak with a representative.
These messages and calls are fake! VDSS will not call or text you about specific EBT card purchases. Do not reply to these texts, click any links, or call any numbers associated with them.
If you have responded to these messages, immediately call the official EBT customer service phone number (1-866-281-2448) or reach out to your local department of social services (www.dss.virginia.gov/localagency).
We also strongly encourage customers to use ConnectEBT to keep your card locked when not in use. Learn more about avoiding EBT scams and using ConnectEBT at dss.virginia.gov/EBTScam. ๐
