A fire weather watch will be in effect this Sat for parts of southeast Louisiana and SW Mississippi. This means the weather will be favorable for fires to grow and spread quickly. Follow any local burn bans, avoid outdoor burning and take care handling things that can spark.

A burn ban is in effect for Tangipahoa Parish.

Effective immediately, due to the extremely dry conditions and at the request of the parish’s local fire chiefs, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller has issued a parish-wide burn ban.

“After talking with the fire chiefs and upon review of the local forecast, we agree that a burn ban is appropriate at this time,” Miller said.

The burn ban goes into effect immediately and will remain in place until rescinded. Miller said the ban includes all open residential and commercial burning. The ban does not include bar-b-que pits, grills, or fire pits; however, the parish president asks that citizens “use extreme caution” if they utilize these items.

The Tangipahoa Parish team was proud to join state and regional economic development representatives from across all ten GNO parishes to hear key insights from Scott Kupperman of Kupperman Location Solutions on national site selection trends and driving decision factors.

Collaborative conversations like these ensure Tangipahoa Parish—with our prime interstate crossroads (I-12 & I-55), Class 1 rail access, and certified industrial sites—remains top-of-mind for major corporate relocations and business expansions.

Thank you to GNO, Inc for hosting this event!
