Last night, the Amity Fire District crews trained on vehicle fires! Our firefighters focused on the importance of properly approaching and attacking a vehicle fire, including scene safety, positioning, and effective fire suppression tactics.

Regular training helps our crews stay sharp, work safely, and be better prepared to respond when our community needs us.

Yesterday, Amity Fire District had the opportunity to visit Amity Elementary School to teach students about the importance of fire safety and prevention! We love getting out into our community and helping educate the next generation on how to stay safe.

A BIG shoutout to McMinnville Fire District for allowing us to use their Fire and Life Safety House! It made the day run much smoother and gave students a fun, hands-on way to learn important fire safety lessons. We truly appreciate your support!

We would also like to thank Amity Elementary School for getting us on the schedule and giving us the opportunity to teach their students these important lessons.

Teaching fire prevention and helping build a safer community starts with education, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of it!

Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

On this day, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever impacted, and the extraordinary courage shown by firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and civilians who answered the call in our nation’s time of need.

As members of the fire service, we continue to honor the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and carry forward the values of service, courage, and commitment they demonstrated that day.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

With rain in the forecast, we want to remind everyone that the burn ban is still in effect. Please do not assume that upcoming rain means burning restrictions have been lifted. The burn ban will remain in place until conditions improve and the restriction is officially lifted.

We are also continuing to see smoke settled into the valley.

Even with rain on the way, please continue to follow the burn ban until it is officially lifted.

Thank you for helping Amity Fire District prevent wildfires and keep our community safe!

This afternoon, HB54 and its crew returned home after nearly two weeks deployed as part of Yamhill County Task Force 25, assisting with State Conflagrations across Oregon.

We are incredibly proud of our members for answering the call to help protect communities across the state while continuing to ensure our own district remained staffed and ready to respond to emergencies here at home.

Just a heads up for our community—if you’ve noticed hazy skies or the smell of smoke today, it’s from wildfires burning across Oregon and Washington. Changing wind patterns are carrying smoke into the Willamette Valley, and smoky conditions may continue over the next several days.

BR5 returned home this afternoon after a week-long deployment, and we want to thank the crew for their dedication and service protecting communities across Oregon.

Not long after BR5 returned, HB54 was deployed as part of the Yamhill County Task Force to assist with the Hagen Fire.

HB54 Crew:
Apparatus Operator: Lt. Ben Hill
Engine Boss: Jordan Dyche
Firefighter: Carson Ruyle

As one crew returns home, another answers the call. We wish the HB54 crew a safe deployment and look forward to welcoming them home soon. Thank you to all of our firefighters and their families for their continued commitment and sacrifice.

Today, the Oregon Department of Forestry raised the fire danger level to HIGH due to warm temperatures and dry conditions. As a reminder, Yamhill County remains under a burn ban.

Please use extra caution with anything that could spark a fire. Even a small ignition source can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire under these conditions.

If you have any questions about outdoor burning or current restrictions, please call the Yamhill County Burn Line at (503) 472-3344 or contact the Amity Fire District before burning.
