Josh Wheeler State Representative Idaho

The men and women who answer the call when our communities need them most deserve leaders who will listen to them.

I’m grateful to have the support of the Professional Firefighters of Idaho, an organization representing firefighters across our state and advocating for the safety of both first responders and the Idahoans they serve.

The 2026 Idaho Voter Pamphlet is now available. Before you cast your ballot this November, I encourage you to take some time to read through it. It includes important election dates, voting information and details on the questions Idaho voters will be deciding this year.

Our hearts are broken for this loss. He was a great friend, a wonderful member of the community, and he will be missed deeply.

View Benjamin David Goode's obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.

Repealing property taxes is a big topic in Idaho right now.

I don’t support a full repeal if there isn’t something in place to replace that revenue. I do think there are conversations we can have about making taxes easier to deal with for Idahoans and looking at pieces of the system that could be changed.

For example, Senator Harris and I have worked for years on ways to better fund fire and police services in Bear Lake County through other sources of revenue.

There are opportunities to make changes while still making sure our communities can provide the services people depend on.

License plate readers have been around for more than a decade, but the technology surrounding them has changed dramatically—especially with the advances in artificial intelligence. We need to make sure our laws keep pace with those changes. That means taking a hard look at data storage policies and penalties for misuse of the data.

I’m grateful we’re having this conversation. Let’s get it solved.

Thank you to everyone who joined local legislators from Districts 32, 33 and 35 for last night’s town hall at the College of Eastern Idaho.

Our discussion covered several timely issues, including artificial intelligence, Proposition 1, HJR 4 and potential changes to Idaho’s school funding formula. I was also especially glad to have the opportunity to talk about career technical education and the important role CTE plays in preparing Idahoans for the workforce.

Town halls give us an important opportunity to hear directly from the people we represent and explain what is happening at the state level. I look forward to the next one!
