🇺🇸 75th Amo Fish Fry Festival Grand Marshals – Don & Janice Schauwecker 🇺🇸
The Amo Fish Fry Festival was honored to recognize Don and Janice Schauwecker as the Grand Marshals of the 75th Amo Fish Fry Festival Parade. They have been attending the Amo Fish Fry Festival parade for many years.
Don and Janice have dedicated themselves to honoring the sacrifices of our military members, first responders, and fallen heroes. Wherever they travel, they proudly display American flags on their memorial bell trailer as a tribute to those who serve our nation and protect our communities. This year, they also displayed flags honoring firefighters and law enforcement officers.
Their commitment to remembrance is deeply personal. Saturday marked the 20th anniversary of the loss of their oldest son, Richard A. Blakley, who was killed in action on June 6, 2006, while serving in Iraq. Richard served 17 years in the Indiana National Guard as a frontline medic and made the ultimate sacrifice when he was killed by a sniper while caring for others.
Through their traveling memorial bell and continued efforts to share Richard’s story, Don and Janice help ensure that the sacrifices of our fallen service members are never forgotten, while also honoring those who continue to serve today.
Please join us in thanking Don and Janice Schauwecker for their dedication, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to preserving the memory of our nation’s heroes. It was a privilege to have them lead the parade during this special 75th anniversary celebration.
🇺🇸 We remember Richard A. Blakley and all who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸
