Bus Safety in Action! We love seeing our students making safe choices on the bus! From staying seated to following directions and showing respect for their drivers and fellow riders, these students are proving that the little things make a BIG difference.

A huge shout-out to our students for being safe, responsible, and respectful riders, and to our amazing bus drivers for helping get everyone to and from school safely each day!

We need your help to provide FREE meals for all students at our elementary schools for the 2027-28 school year!

Under House Bill 1238, elementary schools qualify to serve free breakfast and lunch to all students when 30% or more of enrolled students qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

We’re almost there!
- Mount Erie Elementary: Qualified at 35.14%
- Island View Elementary: 27.04%
- Fidalgo Elementary: 27.13%

While House Bill 1238 applies only to elementary schools, Anacortes Middle School (AMS) and Anacortes High School (AHS) may qualify through the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) when 40% or more of students are directly certified through programs such as SNAP, TANF, or foster care.

AHS is currently at 24.11%, and AMS is at 25.62%. Cap Sante High School (CAP) is already CEP-qualified at 47.14%!

How to help:
- Log into Skyward Family Access (link in comments below)
- Select “Annual Student Information Update.”
- Complete the annual update and, if eligible, the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit Application.

Island View and Fidalgo have until October 31, 2026, to reach the 30% threshold. Every completed annual update and eligibility application can help us get there!

Thank you to Amy Hong and Barrett Financial for their generous $12,000 donation to provide caps and gowns for all graduating seniors at Anacortes High School and Cap Sante High School!

The donation will be presented for approval at the Anacortes School Board’s October 22, 2026, Business Meeting at 6:15 p.m.

Moving forward, the district plans to establish a reusable gown program, allowing gowns to be used by future graduating classes. This generous gift will help ensure graduates can celebrate this important milestone without the added financial burden on their families.

Today we’re celebrating the incredible coaches who support and inspire Anacortes Middle School and Anacortes High School student-athletes!

Our coaches do so much more than teach the game. They build confidence, teamwork, resilience, and leadership, and create experiences and memories that students will carry with them long after the season ends.

Anacortes School District is partnering with the Anacortes Police Department to remind students and families about safe riding practices and the rules for e-bikes, electric scooters, and other personal transportation devices.

Please take a few minutes to review the rules with your student, including helmet requirements, speed limits, where different types of e-bikes can be ridden, and requirements for e-motorcycles.
