Adults don’t have to be experts to talk to the young people in their lives about love and relationships. They just need to be askable – which means young people can come to them without feeling judged, fearful or invalidated.

Sexual health is more than avoiding STIs. It includes consent, communication, respect, testing and feeling safe in your relationships.

So…what does an epidemiologist actually do? They help answer questions like who is getting sick? Where are cases happening? When did they start? How are people being exposed? Why is it happening?

Then they use evidence to help stop the spread and protect the community. Think of it as detective work for public health. The next time you hear a health statistic, ask: “What does the data tell us?”
