Food and friendly conversation are the centerpiece for this First Friday event. Peruse delicious food truck options, then drop in at a community “dinner party,” hosted by Everyday Anchorage artist, Duke Russell. Tables around the lawn will be hosted by community members and artists for low-key, ongoing fun conversation. Bring your friends or make a new connection before heading into the museum for free First Friday activities. Free to attend; food for purchase.

The Bookmobile will be taking part in this event as part of the downtown Anchorage pop-ups made possible by EasyPark Alaska and the Park It Forward program

SUNDAY: the Lemonade Stand, and BookMobile will be popping up outside Bivy from 1-4 p.m. on 9/6. Check out the Lamp Show before The Lemonade Stand heads north and spend some time with Bivy ‘s new exhibition Train Robber, with new work and a publication by Sally Carr ( Sally Carr ).

More about Lamp Show: The Lemonade presents Lamp Show for September, featuring nine artists connected across Alaska. This auction show will fundraise for the Bread Line, a soup kitchen in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Lemonade Stand will be popping up from Homer to Fairbanks, stopping in Soldotna, Anchorage, and Palmer along the way. All artworks are created from a place of ‘lamp’ and shine on the idea of the monetary value of an artist’s time. The Lemonade Stand is a recipient of a generous grant from the Ursa Major Fund, a re-granting organization of the Andy Warhol Foundation.

Thanks to everyone that has supported the Bookmobile’s programming this year. Special thanks to EasyPark Alaska and their Park it Forward program for help with our downtown efforts and Atwood Foundation for their continued support.

The Bookmobile will be out and about on First Friday. We will start our evening at the UMC at 9th & G, where Rhonda Scott’s new outdoor murals are being showcased. Then we will finish out our night across from Akela Space at 6th and C.

From around town. We've been keeping them in buckets of water waiting for them to root so that we can plant them. Looks like they've rooted! Come join the Bookmobile at the Lunch on the Lawn this Thursday and help pot some willows. We'll have examples of willows that we potted over the last couple years too

Say hi and check out the current library of free books when you come to this year's celebration at the park strip. We are close to 10th and G, with our friends at the KDJ Social Justice Library and Alaskans Take a Stand. The festivities run all weekend long, Friday through Sunday from 1-6pm. We'll be there Saturday and Sunday.

This is the first event for us this summer and unofficially kicks off what we expect to be a busy season of pop-ups around downtown Anchorage thanks to support from ACDA's Park It Forward Grant. We'll be posting an updated summer schedule soon.
