Welcome to Anchorage!

This week, downtown Anchorage is proud to welcome Alaska Native Elders, youth, delegates, and visitors from communities across our state for the Elders & Youth Conference (October 18–21) and the Alaska Federation of Natives Convention (October 22–24).

These important gatherings celebrate Alaska Native cultures, traditions, leadership, and the connections between generations.

At the Anchorage Community Development Authority (ACDA), we're excited to see downtown come alive as people gather, reconnect, share knowledge, and experience all that Anchorage has to offer.

Welcome to downtown Anchorage! We're glad you're here!

Help Shape Anchorage's Economic Future

The Anchorage Community Development Authority (ACDA) is participating in the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) process, an important effort led by the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) to help guide the community's economic priorities and future opportunities.

ACDA representatives are serving on several panels, bringing perspectives on redevelopment, housing, downtown revitalization, and community investment.

Community participation is an important part of developing a strategy that reflects Anchorage's needs and opportunities. We encourage residents, businesses, property owners, and community organizations to learn more about the CEDS initiative and explore opportunities to get involved.

More Housing & More Opportunity.

We’re excited to see continued momentum around the land exchange for Tozier Track and Block 102!

The proposed Tozier Track and Block 102 land exchange can help move this long-planned Downtown property toward redevelopment and opening the door for new housing, investment and activity in our city.

ACDA is proud to be part of the work to help turn underutilized properties into opportunities that support a more vibrant, connected and prosperous Anchorage.

Muldoon’s Moment is Here! 🚌📚

The future of the Muldoon corridor continues to take shape. A new Muldoon Transit Center and Library could be an important part of creating a more connected, accessible, and vibrant East Anchorage.

If you live, work, shop, or travel through Muldoon, this is another opportunity to help shape what comes next. Stop by the Community Open House on September 30 and share your input with Anchorage People Mover!

🏘️ Continuing the conversation on housing in Anchorage.

Following a presentation to the ACDA Board on Missing Middle Housing, the Anchorage Assembly will hold a worksession this Friday on AO 2026-85, the Missing Middle Housing Opportunity Project.

The worksession is open to the public and is an opportunity to learn more about the proposal ahead of the September 15 Assembly public hearing.

See the post below for meeting details and how to watch online.

Want to learn more about Missing Middle Housing before the public hearing? 🏘️

This Friday, the Assembly is holding a worksession on AO 2026-85, the Missing Middle Housing Opportunity Project (MMHOP).

We’ll be digging into the proposal, answering questions, and continuing the conversation about how Anchorage can create more housing choices along existing transit corridors — including duplexes, triplexes, townhomes, cottage courts, and other smaller-scale housing options.

📅 Friday, September 11th
🕐 1–2 PM
📍 City Hall, Conference Room 155
💻 You can also watch online

Worksession meetings don’t include public testimony, but they are open to the public and are a great way to hear the discussion and learn more before MMHOP comes up for public hearing at the September 15th Assembly meeting.

If you’ve been following this proposal, have questions, or plan to testify next week, I encourage you to tune in at:

❄️ Snow is already on our minds in Anchorage!

With the first snow showing up on the mountains, we’re already thinking about how Downtown Anchorage will shine this winter.

EasyPark will once again be installing its lighted snowflakes downtown — and this year, we’re inviting downtown businesses and property owners to help add to the glow!

In collaboration with Mayor LaFrance and the Municipality of Anchorage Permit Center, businesses can install string lights over eligible sidewalks within MOA streets/right of way. Permit fees are waived.

💡 Bright idea: Consider energy-efficient LED lights and a timer to keep your display shining when it matters most while helping reduce energy use.
