Behind every mission is a team of maintainers making sure those aircraft are ready to go. From inspections and repairs to troubleshooting and keeping everything mission-ready, aircraft maintenance is a huge part of what makes the mission possible.
If you like working with your hands, solving problems, working around aircraft, and knowing that what you do directly contributes to the mission, aircraft maintenance might be worth looking into.
Could you see yourself being an aircraft maintainer? Send us a message or leave a comment.

A new chapter for the Alaska Air National Guard!

Lt. Col. Glenna Lambert assumed command of the newly activated Alaska Air National Guard Recruiting Flight during a Sept. 25 ceremony in Anchorage, becoming the flight’s first commander.

The new organization brings recruiting efforts across the Alaska Air National Guard under one team, focused on reaching communities across the state, connecting Alaskans with opportunities to serve and building the force for the future.

“Every conversation matters. Every school visit matters. Every community event matters. Every person we inspire to serve matters,” Lambert said. “Because the Airmen we recruit today will become the leaders of tomorrow.”

What happens between parachute drops can be just as important as the jump itself.

During a Sept. 23 training mission over Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, an Alaska Air National Guard HC-130J Combat King II crew supported active-duty Army and Air National Guard parachutists at three different jump altitudes, all in less than two hours of flight time.

Between passes, loadmasters re-rigged equipment and prepared the next group of jumpers while the aircrew collected wind data and calculated where each group needed to exit the aircraft.

“Everyone needs to be on the same page to make everything happen,” said Tech. Sgt. Kimberly Gunia, a loadmaster with the 211th Rescue Squadron. “If there are issues or confusion, we pause the checklist and do not proceed until it is cleared up.”

The Alaska Air National Guard Recruiting & Retention team took to Seward, Alaska, for a RTP (Resiliency Tactical Pause)
During the trip, the team focused on training, building connections, and getting out into the community. They visited local businesses, met with business owners, and shared information about the opportunities and benefits of serving in the Alaska Air National Guard while putting up flyers to spread the word.
From strengthening our team to connecting with communities across Alaska, we’re always looking for new ways to reach future Airmen.
