Chugach is Alaska's largest electric utility, providing power to nearly 89,000 members. Vulgar, profane, or derogatory comments will be deleted. In 1898, U.S.

During power outages, we will update Facebook as we receive new information from the field or Dispatch. Chugach Electric Association is headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. Anchorage itself sits at the base of the Chugach Mountains. The word "Chugach" comes from an Eskimo tribal name, which the Russians recorded as "Chugatz" or "Tchougatskoi". Army Capt. W.R. Abercrombie spelled the name "Chugatch" and applied it to the mountains.

Saturday -

9:10 am: Power is restored.

6:30 am: Work is going well on this project. Currently the estimate to have power restored is 8 am.

SCHEDULED OUTAGE: We have a scheduled outage tonight in the Mountain View area affecting about 95 members. The area impacted is Mt. View Drive to Richmond and Meyer to Price Street. The outage is scheduled from 10 pm tonight to 6 am Saturday.

The crews will be putting in new conductor and replacing a switch cabinet -- critical work to get done before winter, supporting reliability. The outage may not last the entire scheduled time - we like to plan for a wider window in case unforeseen issues come up. Robo calls with the information were sent to impacted members earlier this week. Thank you for your patience as we get this important work done.
