We are Alaskans -- urban and rural, Republicans, Democrats, and all other parties -- who oppose the oil wealth giveaway and are standing up for all Alaskans' constitutional right to a fair share of the state's oil wealth. We believe Senate Bill 21, which will give oil companies an estimated $4.6 billion of OUR money over the next 5 years with NO strings attached, is BAD public policy. Dunleavy’s proposed sales tax would raise more than $730 million annually. His plan would also raise smaller amounts by updating the state’s corporate income tax and increasing taxes on oil production.

The package laid out in a 56-page bill would raise more than $900 million annually for a period of three years, before it phases out the state’s corporate income tax in 2031, followed by phasing out the sales tax and oil tax increases.

The plan calls for enshrining the Permanent Fund dividend in the state constitution and implementing a statewide sales tax.
