The Municipal Ombudsman's Office was established in addition to other remedies or rights of appeal, as an independent, impartial municipal office, readily available to the public, responsible to the Assembly, empowered to investigate the acts of Municipal agencies and the Anchorage School District, and to recommend appropriate changes toward the goals of safeguarding the rights of persons and of promoting higher standards of competency, efficiency, and equity in the provision of municipal services (A.M.C.

This year, Alaska’s three Ombudsman offices are joining forces to celebrate Ombuds Day and highlight the vital work we do across the state. The Alaska Long Term Care Ombudsman, the State Ombudsman, and the Anchorage Municipal Ombudsman each serve different jurisdictions, but share a commitment to fairness, accessible services, and equitable outcomes for all Alaskans.

Join us for an evening of storytelling, case studies, and community engagement. You’ll learn what an ombudsman is, why our work matters, and how we help make Anchorage—and Alaska—a better place to live. You’ll also meet the people behind the offices and, hopefully, have some fun along the way.

Want to feel more confident riding Anchorage People Mover? 🚌

Travel Training is happening this Friday and it’s a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of using Anchorage’s public transit system.

A People Mover Travel Trainer will walk you through:
• Reading transit maps and schedules
• Using and customizing transit apps
• Setting up mTicket and Half Fare discounts
• Using the bike racks
• And more!

After the classroom portion, the group will put those skills into practice with a ride to and from the Downtown Transit Center. 🚏

The training is free, open to the public, and no registration is required!

If you’ve been wanting to try People Mover but weren’t quite sure where to start, this is for you! 💙
