Who captured Mr. Frost? 🔎 Our student detectives were on the case! During a pretend crime scene investigation, students creating missing posters, analyzed evidence, read suspect profiles, and used their inferencing skills to piece together the mystery.🕵️‍♀️

Our dinosaur unit was one for the ages! 🦕 Endless fun and learning. Some of our favorite activities were modeling the life-size heights of different dinosaurs, piecing together a life-size Triceratops footprint, racing against dinosaurs, and using salt dough to create models of four different types of fossils!

We’ve had so much fun discovering the world of paleontology! 🦴🔎

After learning about paleontology and the groundbreaking fossil hunter Mary Anning, students tried their hand at an excavation. Using toothpicks and paintbrushes, they carefully uncovered dinosaur puzzle pieces buried in dried cornstarch-and-water “earth.” Then came the true challenge: piecing their discoveries together to build a dinosaur! 🦖 We were so impressed with the kids’ problem solving and teamwork!🦴

Our primary students had a blast exploring the Reindeer Farm. They got to feed the animals, hop on a tractor ride, run through a maze, and pick a pumpkin to bring home, with plenty more fun along the way! 🍂🚜

Meet Paley (), an official Student Ambassador for and an extraordinary student at AKChoice! Through her independent study, Paley is running real-world media campaigns! Check out what she’s accomplished so far:
* 🎙️ On-Air Voice Talent: Scripted & recorded official Radio and Spotify ads for Anchorage Restaurant Week.
* 📊 Media Kit & Graphic Designer: Designed media kits, social templates, and promotional assets for local participating restaurants.

We can't wait to see you at our game night this week!

Last year, our students started an experiment by placing a carved pumpkin in soil and watching it decompose. Eventually, its seeds sprouted! One of our teachers took the sprouts home, planted them in her backyard, and watched them grow all summer into brand-new pumpkins.

This week, we brought those pumpkins back to school and cut them open to investigate how they had developed. Students noticed how hollow the pumpkins were inside, examined the developing seeds, and observed the stems to determine which pumpkins were ready for harvest and which could’ve used more time before frost.🔎🎃

We also harvested and ate the potatoes our students planted last spring! 🥔 From planting and observing to harvesting and eating, we got to see months of learning come full circle!
