Please join us in recognizing Shawn McAlister as our October Teacher of the Month!
Mr. McAlister goes well beyond the classroom to give students meaningful, real-world experiences. He is knowledgeable, dependable, and genuinely cares about his students. His Agriculture program has become one of the most requested electives at AMS, and he has taken the program to a different level.

This month, Mr. McAlister took all of his Ag 3 students to Farmfest in Springfield. Students worked in groups to complete an Agribusiness and Technology Scavenger Hunt, interview an industry professional, visit an educational exhibit, and complete a critical-thinking reflection. Experiences like this allow students to see firsthand how what they learn in class connects to the real world.

Mr. McAlister is also heavily involved in our school. He participates in every dress-up day, helps build our Homecoming float, and rides with our students. He is always willing to help students and staff and is someone we can count on.

We consistently receive positive comments from patrons and businesses about our students when we travel. I believe that speaks directly to the relationships Mr. McAlister builds with his students and the expectations he sets for them.

Mr. McAlister is a great teacher, teammate, and role model for our students. He truly represents what it means to be part of the Anderson Middle School family, and is very deserving of this recognition.

We are pleased to recognize Megan Hare as Bus Driver of the Month.

Megan does an excellent job maintaining a safe, positive, and well-disciplined bus. She sets clear expectations for students and holds them accountable while treating them with patience and respect. She has built strong relationships with her students, and they know she cares about them.

Megan is dependable and takes pride in doing her job well. She understands that being a bus driver is about more than getting students from one place to another—it is about creating a safe and positive environment for them each day.

We appreciate all Megan does for our students and our district. She is very deserving of this recognition.

We are proud to recognize Tabatha Divine as our AMS Support Staff Employee of the Month!

Mrs. Divine is much more than our librarian assistant. She teaches 3D design and basic computer skills, manages student Chromebooks, and does a wonderful job getting students excited about reading. She also helps students create our yearbook, teaches photography and design skills, creates school slides and posters, and manages AMS social media.

She provides a welcoming space for students through her lunch club and open library time for 6th graders. She also partners with Crowder College to teach reliable research skills, helps lead our annual Grandparents Day pancake feed during the book fair, and volunteers for field trips and school events. Most recently, she helped print everything for our Homecoming float and chaperoned our Ag3 students at Farm Fest.

We can trust Mrs. Divine to help students choose engaging, appropriate reading materials while making the library a place they enjoy. I have worked with some great librarians throughout my career, and Mrs. Divine ranks right at the top. She continually goes beyond her regular duties to support our students and school, and we are fortunate to have her at AMS!

Congratulations Mrs. Divine!

October 2nd, Anderson Middle School Ag Sci 3 classes made the annual trip to Springfield for Farm Fest at Ozark Empire Fairgounds. A beautiful day, and hundreds of Ag businesses welcomed our 8th graders to this truly, eye opening event! Mr. McAlisters 8th graders completed a team based Ag Career search that involved short interviews of various industry leaders and pictures of state of the art ag innovations. After enjoying some delicious fairground food, they had an opportunity to shop for gifts and collect more free swag than you could imagine. The day would not have been the same without Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Divine and Ms. Murphy helping keep everything in perfect working order.
