As Halloween is fast approaching we have calculated we have over 1700 kids to hand out candy to. We hand out candy at 2 schools and 2 churches not counting handing out candy at the station. It adds up quickly.
We have dropped a link to our wish list if anyone is willing help out it would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have Amazon we will also take new unopened bags of candy. Just message and we will arrange for a drop off time.
And again thanks for your help.

New prescribed burn notification system goes into effect Oct. 1

Citizens who call the Forestry Commission to make notification of their planned prescribed burns – remember, it’s state law! – will notice minor changes in the process beginning Oct. 1.

SCFC’s dispatch centers are switching to a new computer system that will greatly improve the agency’s recordkeeping and back-end operations for prescribed burn notifications. While this is a big change for us, longtime prescribed burners will only see two slight differences:
-Callers will now be asked for their burn plan information in a slightly different order than it was requested before; and
-Assigned burn notification numbers will be provided in a different format.

This unique number for each burn will begin with the last two numbers of the current calendar year, followed by “BN,” followed by five numbers that correspond to the order in which a burn notification is approved. For example, the first prescribed burn notification taken Oct. 1 will be assigned the number 26BN00001.

As a reminder, state law requires citizens who conduct wildlife, forestry and agricultural burns, also known as prescribed burns, to notify the Forestry Commission beforehand by calling (800) 777-3473.

Dispatchers take notifications for prescribed burns via phone to assess appropriate weather conditions, fuel loads, smoke-sensitive areas and issue authorization numbers for burns that comply with South Carolina’s Smoke Management Guidelines.

Had a good turnout today for the walk to remember in Belton, to honor those lost in 9/11. So proud of the group we had show up today. Grady Whitaker one of our honorary FF was the first to reach the end from our group. Helping carry the hose that has all 343 firefighters names written on it that passed away on 9/11.

Thank you to Homeland Park Volunteer Fire Department for including us. Great training for Jr's.

A very busy day for the dedicated firefighters at Flatrock Bowen.
-Had a woods fire on Airline Rd shortly after noon today.
-Shortly after that had a serious MVA car vs moped, in which one patient had to be airlifted for serious injuries.
-Then later in the evening had 2 large woods fires about a mile apart. One on Leatherdale rd and one in Airline rd. Both requiring the The South Carolina Forestry Commission to be called in. And one of those required assistance from Starr Fire Department and Ebenezer Fire Department with grass trucks and tanker.

We want to thank our dedicated members for the time that spend away from their families to protect our district. Want to thank the families for sharing your firefighter with us.
And today we want to thank our neighboring stations for the quick and large response.
And thank the guys from forestry for all their help when we had done all we could they had to step in and stop the spread.

KJW Law Firm attorneys Kyle White and Drew Bradshaw enjoyed seeing Chief Tommy Brock and our other friends at the Pendleton Fire Department today and presenting them with a contribution from the firm. We appreciate everything these volunteer firefighters do to keep us safe.

Anyone who wants to join us in contributing can do so electronically: Venmo- ~ PayPal- .

Next month we will be contributing to another volunteer fire department, first responder nonprofit, or veteran nonprofit. Like and share the post and tag who we should contribute to, and we will choose the next recipient at the end of the month!
