๐Ÿ† Celebrating Excellence in Public Safety Communications! ๐Ÿ†

It is with tremendous pride that I share the exciting news that two members of the Anderson County 911 Communications Center were recognized at the 2026 South Carolina APCO/NENA Conference in Myrtle Beach!

๐ŸŒŸ Amy Stipe โ€“ 2026 Palmetto Award Recipient

The Palmetto Award recognizes exceptional professionalism in emergency communications. Amy's commitment to serving our community and her ability to remain calm and focused under pressure make her truly deserving of this honor.

Last year alone, Amy answered more than 9,000 emergency 911 calls! That's over 9,000 times she was there to provide reassurance, gather critical information, and assist someone during what may have been one of the most difficult moments of their life. This accomplishment highlights both her work ethic and the vital role our telecommunicators play in public safety.

๐ŸŒŸ Ashley Tucker โ€“ 2026 Supervisor of the Year Honorable Mention

Ashley's recognition reflects her dedication to her team and her ability to navigate the daily challenges of emergency communications. She leads by example, supports those around her, and helps ensure our Communications Center operates effectively.

As Director, seeing Amy and Ashley recognized at the state level is incredibly rewarding. Both represent the high standards of service that I see throughout our Communications Center.

I also want to recognize ALL the men and women of Anderson County 911. Every day, our telecommunicators answer calls for help, make critical decisions, and provide a lifeline to our citizens and first responders. Much of their work happens behind the scenes, but the difference they make in our community is immeasurable.

I am fortunate to work alongside an incredible group of individuals who understand the responsibility that comes with being the first point of contact in an emergency, and I am proud of each and every one of them.

Congratulations, Amy and Ashley! Your accomplishments are well deserved, and I am so happy to see you both receive this recognition! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

Today is National Custodian Day. This day is observed annually on October 2 to recognize the hard work of custodial and maintenance staff who keep schools, offices, hospitals, and public facilities clean and safe. We are thankful for the entire Anderson County Facilities Department but especially our building custodian Tony Rodas. Thank you sir for keeping our building clean.

๐Ÿ’œ The Month May End, but the Conversation Shouldnโ€™t. ๐Ÿ’œ

As September comes to a close, so does Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. But the need for compassion, connection, and support does not end when the calendar turns to October.

If you are struggling, feeling overwhelmed, or feel like you have reached the end please reach out. You do not have to face that moment alone.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call or text 988 to connect with someone who is ready to listen and help.

And if you know someone who may be struggling, check on them. Make the phone call. Send the text. Sit with them. Sometimes simply knowing someone cares can make a difference.

September may be ending, but hope, help, and support are available every day of the year. ๐Ÿ’œ

This past Tuesday, we held our quarterly Recognition and Swearing-In Ceremony. ๐Ÿ’›

It was a great opportunity to recognize some of the people who make our center what it is every day.

Congratulations to our employees being recognized for their years of service, those who have recently earned promotions, and one of our dispatchers who was recognized for their role in a CPR save. These accomplishments represent dedication, hard work, and the difference our dispatchers make every single day.

We were also proud to officially swear in five new dispatchers! We are excited to welcome them to the team and look forward to watching them learn, grow, and become an important part of our Communications family.

Several of the employees being recognized were unable to attend because they were working and taking care of business. While they may not be pictured, they are just as deserving of this recognition.

I am extremely proud of each and every one of you. Those being recognized, those stepping into new roles, and those just beginning their journey with us. Being a dispatcher is not an easy job, and the dedication these men and women show every day deserves to be recognized.

Congratulations to everyone, and welcome to the team! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’›
