Mounds State Park This is an official page of Mounds State Park. The largest earthwork, the Great Mound, is believed to have been constructed around 160 B.C.

Mounds State Park, located off I-69 east of Anderson, features 10 unique earthworks built by prehistoric Native Americans known as the Adena-Hopewell people. Archaeological surveys indicate the mounds were used as gathering places for religious ceremonies, from where astronomical alignments could be viewed. The park features a Nature Center, hiking trails, camping, and a canoe launch. Please review our commenting guidelines at http://on.IN.gov/dnrsocial. This property is in the Eastern Time Zone.
