๐Ÿ’œ Different uniforms. Different agencies. One message: Survivors are NOT alone!

Today, in recognition of Purple Thursday, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and community partners throughout Madison County proudly wore purple ribbons and clothing to show their support for survivors of domestic violence.

These photos represent more than just people wearing purple. They represent a community standing together, raising awareness, and reminding survivors that there are people who believe them, support them, and want to help.

๐Ÿ’œ To every survivor: Look at these faces. You are not alone. You have allies throughout our community.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who participated and helped us spread this important message!

There is strength in numbers, and together, we can make a difference. ๐Ÿ’œ

Itโ€™s Purple Thursday! ๐Ÿ’œ

Today our Victim Assistance team is wearing purple to stand with survivors of domestic violence and help raise awareness in our community.

Our shirts carry two important messages: โ€œSafe Looks Good on Youโ€ and โ€œYouโ€™re Not Alone.โ€ Both reflect what we want survivors to know โ€” support is available, safe people are out there, and no one should have to face abuse alone.

๐Ÿ’œ Believe survivors.
๐Ÿ’œ Be a safe place.
๐Ÿ’œ Support safe options.
๐Ÿ’œ Help create change.

We hope to see others in our community showing their support today too. If youโ€™re wearing purple, a purple ribbon, or another DV awareness item, post your photo and tag our page.

Let survivors see the strength in numbers โ€” and see just how many allies and safe people are standing beside them. ๐Ÿ’œ

Join us in wearing purple tomorrow for Purple Thursday! ๐Ÿ’œ

October 15 is a national day of awareness during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Wearing purple is a simple way to show survivors that they are not alone and that our community stands with them.

๐Ÿ’œ Wear purple.
๐Ÿ’œ Be an ally.
๐Ÿ’œ Be a safe place.
๐Ÿ’œ Start the conversation.

If you wear purple tomorrow, weโ€™d love to see it โ€” share a photo or tag our page!

Physical abuse isnโ€™t always a punch.

It can also look like blocking a doorway, throwing things, breaking belongings, driving recklessly to frighten someone, withholding medical care, hurting pets, or using intimidation and threats to control another person.

Recognizing abuse is an important step toward safety. ๐Ÿ’œ

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help and support are available through our Victim Assistance Program.

This week, our Victim Assistance team is busy participating in the annual Sexual Assault CORE 40 Training through the Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault. ๐Ÿ’œ

This week-long training provides advocates with in-depth education on topics including trauma, victim notifications, sexual assault laws, protective orders, Sexual Assault Response Teams, strangulation, human trafficking, technology-facilitated sexual assault, working with law enforcement, and more.

Continuing education like this helps ensure our advocates are prepared to provide informed, compassionate, trauma-responsive support to survivors in our community.

We are always learning, growing, and strengthening the way we serve. ๐Ÿ’œ

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. ๐Ÿ’œ

Domestic violence can happen to anyone, and no one should have to face it alone. This month, we join communities across the country in raising awareness, supporting survivors, and reminding victims that help and resources are available.

Our Victim Assistance Program is here to provide support, information, safety planning, referrals, and connection to resources for those impacted by domestic violence.

๐Ÿ’œ Learn the signs.
๐Ÿ’œ Believe survivors.
๐Ÿ’œ Support safe options.
