More than 1,500 students introduced to CPR—and a closer look at a career serving others!

The Anderson Fire Department was proud to participate in and support the 2026 AOP Business & Industry Showcase over the past two days at the Anderson Civic Center.

Our firefighters and paramedics taught students CPR, shared what careers in fire and emergency medical services look like across our tri-county area, and offered hands-on opportunities to try on protective equipment and explore a fire apparatus and its equipment.

Thank you to Anderson County Economic Development, the Oconee Economic Alliance, and Alliance Pickens for hosting this incredible event. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with the next generation of our workforce while teaching a skill that could save a life!

🚒 A Busy Day for AFD! 🔥

Anderson Fire Department crews responded to 13 emergency calls over a 24-hour period yesterday, including three notable incidents.

🚗 Vehicle Collision: Crews used specialized rescue equipment to extricate two occupants trapped in an overturned vehicle.

🔥 18-Wheeler Fire: Firefighters battled a tractor-trailer fire involving a mixed load of recyclables, requiring an extended operation to fully extinguish.

🏢 Downtown Commercial Fire: Crews responded to a reported commercial building fire that fortunately proved minor and was quickly handled.

Special thanks to our partners at the Anderson Police Department and Medshore Ambulance Service for their assistance and teamwork.

Different challenges. One mission. Serving and protecting Anderson!

Forever Remembered | Sgt. Daniel Bagwell

Four years ago today, October 10, 2022, the Anderson Fire Department lost a brother, a friend, and a very special part of our family.

Sgt. Daniel Bagwell was more than a firefighter. He was a devoted father, husband, son, grandson, and nephew. He was a friend to so many and someone who made a lasting impact on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

Daniel was a big part of what made the Anderson Fire Department a family. His friendship, his dedication, and the memories we shared continue to be a part of who we are today.

We miss him every day, but we know we are better people for having had him in our lives.

Today, and every day, we remember Daniel, celebrate his life, and hold his family and friends close in our prayers.

Rest easy, brother. We have not forgotten. ❤️🖤

The Anderson Fire Department extends our deepest condolences to the Durham (NC) Fire Department and the family of Firefighter Andrew Brokes, who tragically lost his life early this morning while battling a commercial structure fire.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the entire Durham community in the difficult days ahead.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here. 🖤❤️

We are heartbroken to share that Firefighter Andrew Brokes died in the line of duty this morning while searching for victims inside the building at 410 Marly Drive.

Firefighter Brokes, who joined the Durham Fire Department on May 5, 2025, served the Durham community with dedication, courage, and a deep commitment to the residents of the Bull City.

“This is a heartbreaking loss for our department, the family, and the entire community,” said Durham Fire Chief Robert J. Zoldos II. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and his colleagues, and we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this unimaginably difficult time. The department is standing with and supporting his family in every possible way.”

Two other firefighters were injured during the incident and were taken to Duke Medical Center. Both have received care and are expected to make full recoveries.

This loss is felt across our entire department. Firefighters step into unpredictable situations every day in service to others, and Firefighter Brokes embodied that calling with honor.

We know our community is grieving alongside us. If you wish to share your condolences or messages of support, they will be received with gratitude by our department and by those who knew and loved Firefighter Brokes.

In the coming days, we will share more information about how we will honor his service and support the firefighters involved in this incident.

Thank you, Durham, for surrounding our DFD family with care during this profoundly difficult time.
