19 kindergartners. 27 photos on a disposable camera.

We challenged some Meadowlark Elementary kindergartners to capture the highlights of their week on some old-school technology. Kayla Nelson's class did a great job showing why they're experts on kindergarten!

Did you know that approximately 75% of the items at the Andover Community Food Bank come from donation drives organized by our schools? That's a LOT of food! Fifth-graders from Meadowlark Elementary got in on the action today, delivering and organizing food gathered by their school's students.

Tonight was race night!

Autos students from Andover High School and Andover Central High School were in the pits as their teacher, Cliff Brubaker, competed in the 81 Speedway enduro race. These students helped to rebuild the car named Fordzilla that belonged to Mr. Brubaker's father and last raced at 81 Speedway in 2006.

While the race ended sooner than they had hoped, students enjoyed the experience and are ready to work on the next version of Fordzilla!

When your facilities are among the best, you get to host the best! Thanks to Chad Gerwick, athletic director at Andover Central High School; Janet Glaser, ACHS tennis coach; and their team for doing a great job in running the Kansas State High School Activities Association 5A girls tennis tournament the past two days. And thanks to our community for supporting such outstanding facilities for our students!

We want to thank the firefighters of Andover Fire-Rescue for sharing their knowledge and showing off their trucks for Fire Prevention Week. Entering a burning building takes bravery, but so does answering questions from extremely curious elementary students!

But seriously...thank you for everything you do to protect our community. We appreciate you.

It's almost race time for autos students at Andover High School and Andover Central High School! They have been rebuilding a 1988 Crown Victoria that belonged to teacher Cliff Brubaker's father, with plans to race it Oct. 17 at 81 Speedway. Mr. Brubaker will be behind the wheel, while students will make up the pit crew. It's been a rare experience for students to rebuild a car from the ground up!
