Last week we had a special visitor to the station. Mr Brooks stopped by with his great grandma. After they had a visit at the police department, Brooks wanted to see the firetrucks! He got to check out the big red truck and he even got to blow the horn!

Since Brooks showed all the qualities that we look for in our future firefighters, he was given the oath to swear him in as an honorary official junior firefighter! He received his badge and helmet!

It was a great visit and it was our honor to have guests at the fire station!

As always we are proud to serve and be a part of the Andrews Community!

What a GREAT day!

The Andrews Fire Department paid a visit to the Andrews Elementary School today for a fire prevention presentation.

We got to talk about important subjects like how to call 911, stop-drop-roll, home escape plans, get out-stay out, and many more things with this awesome bunch of youngsters!

We are honored to be able to get out and help people learn about fire safety and preparedness!

Thanks again Andrews Elementary for inviting us!

The Town of Andrews Fire Department was so excited to be asked to Read a Book and give a fire safety presentation at the Andrews Library today!

Assistant Chief Rob Stamper read Clifford the Firehouse Dog to a very attentive audience!

Chief Bob Ulrich and Firefighter Anna Nesbitt presented a fire safety presentation on 911 and stop drop and roll. FF Nesbitt demonstrated that Firefighters aren't scary by showing all the kids what a Firefighter looks like when they put on their protective clothing!

Everyone got to tour the firetruck and as a surprise was given an Official Andrews Fire Department badge and fire helmet!

We are honored to serve and be a part of any of the great programs offered at the Andrews Library!

Big news for the Andrews Fire Department!

We have moved into town hall! What was once an EMS station, and then the living quarters for the previous police chief has been allocated for Fire Department use.

For the last several years the fire department has been operating out of several garage spaces around town and all administrative functions have been conducted at members homes.

This is a very welcomed upgrade for the Department to have a functioning office and training space for our personnel!

All the work within the space has been done by members of the Department to make sure we are making every dollar count!

We will be able to host our recruit training right here in the town of Andrews because of these renovations.

If the front door is up, feel free to stop by and take a look!

As we get closer to October which is Fire Prevention Month we want to put out some good safety information for everyone.

Please watch the short video below. It is titled "Close before you doze".

What It Is:

"Close Before You Doze" is a fire safety initiative by the Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI), part of UL Research Institutes, aimed at making closing doors at night a routine safety habit

The program emphasizes that a simple behavioral change—shutting your bedroom door before going to sleep—can save lives without requiring any special equipment or major effort

Why It Matters:

Research shows that closed doors dramatically reduce room temperatures and toxic gas levels during a fire. In controlled experiments, bedrooms with closed doors had average temperatures under 100°F, compared to over 1,000°F in open-door rooms. Carbon monoxide levels were also much lower—around 100 PPM in closed rooms versus 10,000 PPM in open rooms

This delay in fire spread can provide critical extra minutes to escape safely.

How to Implement:

Make it a nightly habit: Close all bedroom doors before going to sleep.

Plan escape routes: Know multiple exits from your home in case of fire.

Educate family members: Share the importance of this practice with everyone in your household

In a house fire, are you safer sleeping with your bedroom doors ope...

On 9/19/2026 the Andrews Fire Department was honored to be invited to attend the First Responders Luncheon. The event was sponsored by Woodmen Life insurance and hosted the Andrews Church of God.

We want to thank everyone involved especially Pastor Joe Lambert. It was a wonderful event of appreciation and fellowship with representation from local agencies.

Firefighter Joe Anderson was recognized for his outstanding dedication and service to the citizens of Town of Andrews and the Andrews Fire Department.

As always it is our pleasure to serve!
