Congratulations Team!

During a commencement speech from Admiral WIlliam McRaven, Navy Seal, former Commander of USSOCCOM, the Admiral discussed the positive impact one could have on the World. The jist of his comments were that you don’t have to change the entire world yourself. Change the life of one person. Help one person, teach one person, encourage one person, or make one decision that positively affects someone else. That person may go on to affect another, and another, and another. McRaven’s point was that our influence doesn’t end with the people we touch directlyβ€”it can carry through their children, their families, their decisions, and future generations. If you want to change the world, start by changing the life of one person.

CPT Wallace and his Team responded to an out of hospital cardiac arrest and their timely response and actions saved a life when seconds truly matter. Through quick response, actions, and teamwork, this Patient was able to survive and return home to family and loved ones. Not only did this crew save a life in Dec of 2025, they also preserved a legacy that has the opportunity to live on and create even more memories for family and loved ones that would have otherwise been lost that day . We are very grateful to have such a remarkable crew that was able to give this family more time, memories and a legacy that lives on. This crew truly represents Hometown Hero status not only for the family but for the Angier & Black River Fire Department and the community we serve. They are changing the World, one person at a time

πŸšŒπŸ›‘ NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK: DIVIDED HIGHWAYS πŸ›‘πŸšŒ

Do you know when you’re required to stop for a school bus on a divided highway? The Angier & Black River Fire Department reminds drivers that understanding the rules can help keep children safe.
In North Carolina, when a school bus stops with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended:

πŸ›‘ Two-lane road: Traffic in both directions must stop.

πŸ›‘ Multi-lane road without a median: Traffic in both directions must stop.

πŸ›‘ Multi-lane road with a center turn lane: Traffic in both directions must stop.

πŸš— Divided highway with a median: Only traffic following the school bus must stop. Traffic traveling in the opposite direction is not required to stop.

πŸš— Road with four or more lanes and a center turning lane: Only traffic following the school bus must stop.

⚠️ Even when you are not required to stop, slow down, stay alert, and watch for children.

πŸ”΄ KNOW THE ROAD. KNOW WHEN TO STOP. KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE!

πŸšŒπŸ“ NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK: THE 10-FOOT RULE πŸ“πŸšŒ

Keeping our children safe starts before they even step onto the school bus. The Angier & Black River Fire Department reminds students and families to remember the 10-Foot Rule around school buses.

⚠️ The area immediately surrounding a school bus can be difficult for the driver to see. Students should:

πŸ“ Stay at least 10 feet away from the bus whenever possible.

πŸ‘€ Make sure the bus driver can see you before crossing.

🚢 Always cross in front of the bus β€” never behind it.

πŸŽ’ If you drop something near or under the bus, tell the driver and never reach for it yourself.

πŸ“΅ Put phones away and stay alert while entering or exiting the bus.

🚌 STAY BACK β€’ STAY VISIBLE β€’ STAY SAFE
A few extra feet can make a big difference in keeping our children safe!

RED LIGHTS MEAN STOP!

Every school day, children across our community depend on motorists to help keep them safe as they get on and off the school bus.
When a school bus activates its flashing red lights and stop arm, pay attention and STOP when required by law. Children may be crossing the roadway, and one distracted driver can create a dangerous situation.

πŸ”΄ Watch for flashing red lights.

πŸ›‘ Never illegally pass a stopped school bus.

πŸ‘€ Look carefully for children crossing the road.

πŸ“΅ Put the phone down and stay focused.

πŸš— Slow down around schools and bus stops.

🚌 Give school buses plenty of following distance.

A CHILD’S SAFETY IS WORTH THE WAIT.

πŸŒ³πŸš’ SAFETY SUNDAY: YARD & GENERAL SAFETY πŸš’πŸŒ³

Whether you’re mowing the lawn, cleaning up leaves, trimming trees, or working on weekend projects, a little preparation can help prevent injuries and fires around your home.

The Angier & Black River Fire Department reminds everyone to keep these safety tips in mind:
🌱 Clear the Area β€” Remove rocks, sticks, toys, and other objects before mowing or using power equipment.

πŸ₯½ Wear Proper PPE β€” Use eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, sturdy shoes, and other appropriate safety equipment.

β›½ Fuel Safely β€” Refuel lawn equipment outdoors only after the engine has been turned off and allowed to cool.

πŸ”₯ Keep Dry Vegetation Away β€” Remove leaves, pine straw, and other combustible materials from heat sources and equipment.

πŸ”Œ Check Cords & Equipment β€” Inspect extension cords and power tools for damage before each use.

πŸͺœ Use Ladders Safely β€” Place ladders on firm, level ground and stay clear of overhead power lines.

πŸ‘§ Keep Kids & Pets Clear β€” Maintain a safe work zone whenever operating lawn equipment or power tools.

β˜€οΈ Stay Hydrated β€” Take breaks and watch for signs of heat-related illness when working outdoors.
