The Turner African American Services Council’s 2027 theme will continue to focus on “Strategies for Surviving Today’s Political Climate.” This year’s featured presentation, “Elections Have Consequences,” will examine how election outcomes and public-policy decisions affect older adults, their families, and their communities.
The program will explore:
• The impact of the 2022 and 2024 elections on older adults
• Federal, state, and local policy implications
• Legislative changes affecting older adults.
• Strategies for remaining informed, engaged, and resilient in a changing political climate.

Invited Speakers:
• The Honorable Debbie Dingell, U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 6th Congressional District
• Dr. H. Luke Shaefer, Chief Executive for Health, Human Services, and Poverty Solutions for the City of Detroit

*This will be a free catered event featuring the Ann Arbor Community Jazz Band.

If you have Medicare, it's time to start thinking about what kind of coverage you want for 2027!

The options can be dizzying. Traditional coverage or a Medicare Advantage plan? If you go with Medicare Advantage, which plan? If you go with traditional, which Part D plan do you choose for your prescription drug coverage, and do you want to add a Medigap plan?

We polled people after last year's Open Enrollment, to ask what was most important to them as they made their decisions.

We asked how long they took to choose coverage, what websites and people they turned to for information, and how much they knew about how decisions in Washington, D.C. were affecting their coverage.

The answers might surprise you.
