Farming is part of Marylandβs heritage, and weβre helping keep that tradition alive.
Agriculture has shaped Marylandβs history, landscapes, and communities for generations. Beyond producing locally grown food, farmland preserves open spaces, supports wildlife, and protects the scenic rural character of our state.
The Maryland Park Service helps sustain this legacy by leasing select parklands with a history of agricultural use to local farmers. These short-term leases allow farming to continue while supporting our mission of protecting Marylandβs natural and cultural resources for future generations.
