Protect Our Community: What You Need to Know About Measles ๐Ÿ›‘๐Ÿ“ฒ
Measles is a highly contagious virus that spreads easily through the air when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. In fact, the virus can linger in the air for up to 2 hours after an infected person leaves a room.
Symptoms to Watch For:
โ€ข High fever
โ€ข Cough, runny nose, and red/watery eyes
โ€ข A red, spotty rash that starts on the face/hairline and spreads downward (usually appears 3โ€“5 days after first symptoms)
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ The Best Protection: The MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine is safe, highly effective, and provides lifetime protection. Two doses of the MMR vaccine are 97% effective at preventing measles.

Check your familyโ€™s immunization records today! Need an MMR vaccine or not sure if youโ€™re up to date? Call the Langlade County Health Department at 715-627-6250 or visit your healthcare provider.
