Good Afternoon Leaders.

Please join me in congratulating our National Board Member, Claude Cummings Jr. as the new International President of the Communications Workers of America.

Since 2011, Cummings has served as Vice President of CWA District 6, representing more than 45,000 members in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. Prior to serving as District Vice President, he served as the President of CWA Local 6222. In both capacities he was the first black man elected to these positions.

During this historic election, Ameenah Salaam, was elected as the new International Secretary-Treasurer. Both are serving as the first black man and woman to hold International offices for the Communications Workers of America.

This is not only a proud day for CWA, but for the A. Philip Randolph Institute, as well.

Congratulations, President Cummings and Secretary-Treasurer, Salaam. We look forward to supporting you in your new role.
