PRESS RELEASE
On Friday, October 9th, at 12:28 PM, Antrim Ambulance, Antrim Fire, and Antrim Police responded to an incident involving an 84-year-old woman who had fallen down a flight of stairs. Upon arrival, personnel found a status 2 patient, unconscious at the foot of the stairs, suffering from a traumatic head injury with significant bleeding. EMS immediately applied trauma dressings to stem the bleeding and 2C1 requested the Dhart helicopter to land at Shea Field as the designated landing zone. The patient was moved onto a scoop stretcher, transferred onto a gurney, and transported to the landing zone by ambulance. During transport, EMS personnel immobilized her cervical spine, ebstablished two IV lines, administered fluids to address blood loss, and secured her head with dressings and bandages to control bleeding. Her condition was stabilized en-route to the LZ. Once the Dhart helicopter arrived, patient care was transferred to the flight crew, and the patient was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for treatment.

Pursuit Ends in Rollover After Driver Accelerates Toward Officers

Hillsboro, NH - On October 9, 2026, at approximately 3:10 a.m., officers from the Hillsboro Police Department responded to Cumberland Farms on Henniker Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

As an officer arrived, a vehicle was observed leaving the parking lot without its headlights on. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over and fled at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle from Hillsboro into Antrim, where the driver turned off the headlights, causing officers to temporarily lose sight of it.

Hillsboro officers subsequently located the vehicle on Thompsons Crossing in Antrim. While the officers were outside their cruiser, the driver suddenly accelerated toward them, forcing both officers to run for safety to avoid being struck by the vehicle.

The driver continued fleeing at a high rate of speed before losing control of the vehicle on the dirt roadway. The vehicle went off the road, traveled down an embankment, and rolled over.

Officers immediately took the driver, identified as Christopher Johnson, age 32, of Sharon, NH, into custody.

Johnson sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. Both were treated at the scene by Antrim Ambulance and transported to the hospital.

Further investigation revealed that Johnson was out on bail following an arrest in Rhode Island on October 1, 2026, involving similar circumstances.

On October 5, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Officers of the Antrim Police Department were on patrol in the downtown area of Antrim when they observed a black 2020 Nissan Rogue traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. Officers were then able to initiate a motor vehicle stop of that vehicle on Elm Avenue.

Upon making contact with the driver, officers observed signs that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol as well as having an open container of alcohol in the center console. The driver became uncooperative and was advised that he was under arrest but refused to exit the vehicle. The driver then fled the motor vehicle stop, and Antrim Police officers initiated a pursuit on Elm Avenue.

Officers from the Hillsboro Police Department subsequently located the suspect vehicle on Old Milk Road in Antrim and attempted to stop it. The suspect vehicle rapidly accelerated toward the Hillsboro Police cruiser and struck the cruiser head-on, causing damage to both vehicles and injury to the Hillsboro officers.

The suspect then drove around the police cruiser, extinguished the vehicle's lights, and continued onto Turner Hill Road. At the end of Turner Hill Road, the Hillsboro Police Officers that were struck were able to conduct a high-risk motor vehicle stop of that vehicle. Antrim Police officers arrived on scene and assisted in taking the driver, identified as

Yielding to Emergency Vehicles

When we are responding to an emergency and come up behind you, we need you to move to the right and stop so we can pass you safely. Moving slightly over to the right and continuing at highway speed does not make it safe for us to pass and we have been encountering drivers doing this more frequently.

You should always yield the right-of-way to emergency vehicles and immediately move to the right side of the road whenever one is approaching. Stay still and come to a stop until the emergency vehicle (or vehicles) has passed. Always check your rear view mirror as you’re driving.

NH RSA 265:8 VI. A driver of a vehicle being driven on the ways of this state upon the approach from any direction of an emergency vehicle with the siren or flashing light in operation shall turn immediately as far as possible toward the right-hand side of the way and shall bring his vehicle to a standstill until such emergency vehicle has passed.
