🚨 CASE NUMBER | 26-4402 | Commercial Burglary Arrests | 5500 Block N Peck Rd 🚨

On 10/22, at approximately 10:47 PM, officers responded to the location for activation of a bait package. Pasadena’s airship located two male suspects hiding on the property and directed responding officers in establishing containment. Pasadena and Covina PD K-9 units assisted with the search. Following announcements, both suspects surrendered and were detained without incident. They were identified as Joel Alvarez, 42, and Aryeh Ivan Soto, 27, both of El Monte. Officers located signs of forced entry into the business and arrested both suspects for burglary.

Homicide Investigation
October 22, 2026, at 2:30 PM
On Thursday, October 22, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m., Arcadia Police Officers responded to the 800 block
of West Huntington Drive regarding a disturbance. The caller advised a man was inside the residence and
fired a gun. When officers arrived, the man had fled the scene, and officers discovered a juvenile female
suffering from a gunshot wound. The female was pronounced deceased. The name of the victim is being
withheld at this time.
The case is currently under investigation and is being handled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s
Department, Homicide Division. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at 213-229-1700.

On 10/19/26, Brandon Karmann was appointed Arcadia’s 31st Chief of Police. His connection to Arcadia began as an intern and cadet before he joined the department as a police officer in 2003.

In 2006, he lateraled to the West Covina Police Department, where he served in a variety of roles and was named Officer of the Year in 2015. He most recently served as a Police Captain in West Covina before returning to Arcadia to take on the role of Chief of Police.
