Today, we pause to remember all those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001. The innocent civilians, first responders, and military personnel whose lives were forever intertwined with one of our nation's darkest days.
We honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs, paramedics, military members, and countless others who answered the call that day. We also remember the first responders and Ground Zero workers we continue to lose, more than two decades later, from cancers, respiratory illnesses, and other health conditions caused by their service in the aftermath.
We remember the victims. We remember their families. We remember the heroes. And we remember a nation that came together in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
Their sacrifice did not end on September 11th, and neither should our remembrance.
